The goal of this project is to allow fans to create EarthBound fan games much easier and more. one of those scripts that just add scrolling HP, think of it as Pokemon Essentials but for Earthbound. This tutorial is about how things work, so you can understand what is going on. I have created an Earthbound/Mother 3 Engine for people that use RPG Maker VX Ace. Works the same it just becomes a little more complicated.įor further help, here are some links that will send you to great tutorials you can read/watch after reding this basic one. VX on the other hand requires third-party control over tilesets if you want more. Ace also allows for unlimited styles of maps by giving different tileset options per map. I had a bit of experience using 2003, but it. VX Ace is currently on sale for around 15 dollars and 2003 for around 4, while MV is around 80 (which I cant afford for the time being). VX-Ace pros: Better system for organising tilesets. There is currently a sale on Steam for RPG Maker games, and I am deciding between purchasing VX Ace or 2003 now, or just waiting until a major MV sale pops up.
If you want to use bigger maps than a certain dimension, you will just have to use a few scripts. Overall I think I prefer VX over VX Ace (thisll probably make the devs sad but hey). When I made it, I found out that things are VERY simple. But I found out that it was somewhat intimmidatating for me to set a project up to use Parallaxed maps. It doesn't show how to make great maps, that has been shown well already by other tutorials here and there.
If you know how to make good maps, but not have an idea on how parallax mapping works, then this tutorial is for you.
